Agenda of Gender and Sexuality

From the darkest day to Benedict Sunshine, the Human race is divided into separate souls with same principles where no utter class differences exist like Gender, Sexuality. Thus those principles define us by giving us the same rights, same judgments and own perspective.

Concept of Gender and its relation to Sexuality

At first, we have to know the definition of Gender if we want to confront the subject matter of my blog. Then by judging from those perspectives and giving accurate examples, I will give you an overall knowledge on the agenda of gender. So let us know the definition –
  • It is either of the two sexes (male and female), especially when considered regarding social and cultural differences rather than biological ones. The term is also used more broadly to denote a range of identities that do not correspond to established ideas of male and female.
After knowing this again we have to consider the knowledge of sexuality. Sexuality can be defined with a multitude of explanations.
  • Human sexuality is the way people experience and express themselves sexually. This involves biological, erotic, physical, emotional, social, or spiritual feelings and behaviors. Because it is a broad term, which has varied over time, it lacks a precise definition.
Now without further delay, we should proceed to the main topic of this article how sexuality made its relation with the very nature of gender itself.

This is Gender and Sexuality 2O1.

When a baby is born the first question that people ask is – ‘is it a boy?’ or “is it a girl?’ Since we know that the baby from its birth cannot talk and therefore they can’t tell us what their gender is!

The thing is gender is not a binary.

Doctors can assign a child ‘male’ or ‘female’ based on their body parts and it is only on presumption. And you can put this baby in a ‘pink frock’ or a ‘blue shirt’ but at the end of the day, the gender assigned at birth may not be the one this baby grows up to identify with.

So what is Gender then? And how does it relate to sexuality?

Usually, when children are born, a doctor would look at the sexual organ they have to assign them ‘male’ or ‘female’. Sometimes, a child is born with genitals that don’t fit into what we think of as ‘male’ or ‘female’.

These children are Intersex. And it’s not just genitals that decide whether someone is intersex. Sometimes, children are born with different chromosomes or have different hormonal balances (XXY – XXX).

But because we are so rigid as a society about the gender binary; many times, doctors and parents decide to operate on babies to make them ‘conform’ to either they are ‘male’ or ‘female’ gender. However, this is absolutely wrong.

Such surgery is unnecessary and parents and doctors should wait for the child to grow up and decide what they want to do with their bodies. This is just like surgically attaching a hammer to a child’s hand in the hopes that they will grow up to become Thor or attaching them with a cricket bat assuming that he/she will become a cricket player without taking their personal thoughts on that matter.

Anyway, so, children can be assigned ‘male’ or ‘female’ when they’re born and while many people grow up to identify with the gender they were assigned at birth; many others do not.

  • For instance, let us assume two children, ‘I’ and ‘j’ who are both assigned female at birth. But while ‘I’ grew up to identify as a ‘woman’; ‘j’ grew up to identify as a man. That made ‘i’ a Cisgender person and ‘j’ a Transgender person. Specifically ‘j’ is a Trans Gender man or ‘Trans Man’.
  • ‘m’, who is assigned male at birth, and identifies as a woman is a transgender woman, Trans Woman. But transgender people do not need to assign themselves as a man or woman.
  • Suppose someone is assigned male at birth but doesn’t identify as either male or woman. What will you call them? – They are Non-Binary. People can also be genderqueer, gender fluid or gender.
Now, for the main part, gender isn’t the same thing as sexuality. Sexuality basically means who you are attracted to – whether physically or emotionally.

  • ‘j’ who was a Trans Man, is exclusively attracted to women. This makes him hetero-sexual (straight).
  • ‘I’ also attracted to a woman. However, she identifies as a woman herself; this makes her homo-sexual (Lesbian).
  • If a man is attracted to another man, he would be Gay.
  • ‘m’ is meanwhile Pan-Sexual – which means she is attracted to people of all genders. People also identify as Bisexual if they are attracted to ‘male’ as well as ‘woman’; in a binary sense.
  • Suppose someone who doesn’t feel sexual attraction to anybody, how would you define him/her? – Obviously, they are Asexual. Some asexual people are also Aromantic as they don’t want a romantic relationship or sex. But not all asexual people are Aromantic!

However, the thing you have to remember is these things are just labels at the end of the day. Gender and sexuality are fluid. Sometimes, people identify with the Q in LGBTQIA+, which stands for queer and questioning. They can apply to their gender or sexuality or to both. And this doesn’t make them any less ‘normal’, or any less ‘human’. So it is not your right to judge them as you please. Think, if your very existence is questioned by others, what it will feel like? And yes, this is the type of feelings that you are having now; it is the same feelings, they staggered along with them with their everyday life.
So at least be a little mean to them from now on. I know it is an awkward feeling that you feel towards them, but please be thoughtful of them also!

All of us have to remember that only an individual can decide, their Gender and Sexuality for themselves. Just because you have watched a video and have learned some definitions, doesn’t mean you can tell someone else; who they are! Or what they should do!

Now, this 201 is done, and now it’s up to you to learn more and treat all people with respect. And if you wonder what you would call someone or what pronoun would you use to call them; just ask them, please don’t assume!

This article may be short but it contains heavy chapters of life, so be a little considerate of this topic. And I hope you will like this read. If you wonder how I came upon this perfect idea of this topic, don't wonder much because I am also a student; learning at the very end. So the truth is I am not taking any credits of this article is all goes to a video that I used to get a perfect idea on this controversial topic. Don't worry I will give you this video at the end. So thank you again for staying with me and reading it to the very end. Next time it will be a study material; so don't bother if you are not interested in it; but if you then what can I say? - Enjoy it!

A Silent Voice Psychology - analysis of A Silent Voice

A Silent Voice, also known as Koe no Katachi. When it first came out in 2016, mixed feelings from the viewers were skyrocketing on the internet. Many blacklisted it for being melodramatic but several enjoyed it for its uniqueness as the most emotional film in this anime decade. But for the manga readers, it was confusing, as for 7 long volumes to be bound into a 2-hour film would prone to be neglected much in the broader sense. Still, the representation was worthy of giving it a shot to withhold every single aspect that its symbols were to represent. On a psychological level, it was much bigger than it seems to be. In this post, I will point out those thoroughly by using my imaginative sense and also through a deep enlisted study of the series by its manga on the account. Let us start from the notch. From the starting of the film, 'What is the scene about? What is the image in a distance?' The opening scene of A Silent Voice, explains the entire movie and I am going to recreate
